Here’s a bit about the groups that I play with…

T#e Accidentals are made up of Anna Hopkins (flute), Jo Westaway (soprano) and Karen Smith (piano). These long-standing friends have joined forces in order to share their musical passions and exciting repertoire. Being established solo musicians in their own right brings a wealth of knowledge, skill and exceptional standards to all of their performances.

Anna studied at the Royal College of Music for four years where she obtained the A.R.C.M diploma/ G.R.S.M (Hons) degree, and Advanced Certificate in performance. After leaving College, Anna took further studies with several eminent flautists, before embarking on a career as a freelance flautist in London. Recital venues include St Martin in the Fields, St Georges Hanover Square as well as historic houses and castles. She returned to Norfolk in 2005 and quickly established herself as a chamber musician and soloist and has given many recitals and concerts throughout East Anglia and beyond. Anna has performed at several Norfolk music festivals as well as lunchtime recitals and is also a regular guest soloist with several choirs. In 2017 Anna became co principal flute with the Norwich Philharmonic orchestra. Anna teaches at Town Close School in Norwich as well as privately. She is also a music examiner for Trinity College London, a career that takes her to venues throughout the country and abroad.

Jo was born in Cardiff, South Wales, which gave her a great head-start as a singer. Following a period of private study, she moved to London, where she was a Classic FM Unsigned Artist. Since moving to Norfolk, Jo has studied with Vetta Wise, gained her ATCL diploma and become a founder member of the all-female group, Seraphim. Jo has also sung as an oratorio soloist and enjoyed recitals in Norfolk and Suffolk. She is looking forward to singing the soprano solo in Song of Songs by Norfolk-based composer, Patrick Hawes, in a concert with Norwich Baroque and Seraphim this summer.

Since being formed, T#e Accidentals have performed all over East Anglia with great success and can provide you with the perfect musical experience, whatever the occasion – weddings, parties, corporate hospitality, christenings, Classical concerts – we have a broad repertoire of music from shows and musicals, pops, light Classical and Classical, and can accommodate all tastes. We can also make arrangements of your favourite music for our combination.
